Enhanced External Counter-Pulsation (EECP)

" EECP was put to use in the USA after it was approved by the FDA for treating Stable Angina, Heart Failure, Cardiogenic Shock, and Inoperable Heart Disease. It is not a substitute to either Angioplasty or CABG, but is a very good alternative in patients with angina not responding to optimal medical management and are not candidates for Coronary Revascularization. There are increasing reports in which short course EECP shows promise for the high risk CABG cases. This could be a very good method in providing symptom relief and enhancing quality of life in patients with Ischemic Cardiomayopathy. " Dr. Madhu Sreedharan
