Cardiac Disease The Leading Cause Of Death.

Cardiac diseases still account for 52.3% of all deaths in the state of Kerala. The same statistics generally is applicable for the developed western world. The only difference is more of South Indians die of Coronary Heart disease at an average 10 -15 years earlier compared to the western world. About 50% of them die from the first cardiac arrest or heart attack itself.

Why is this so??

The following are the reasons

  • High genetic risk
  • Low HDL cholesterol.
  • High fat intake.
  • High LDL Cholesterol.
  • No exercise.
  • Prevalence of the pre diabetic syndrome is very high
